Family Camp at Lake McClure - July 6 - 10
What is Family Camp
Family Camp is a group of folks from Castro Valley First Baptist who go camping together for a week in July at Lake McClure.
What Is The Program?
The program is to relax! There are no daily seminars, studies or scheduled times to rush to. Instead, each family brings its own equipment, food, and games and sets their own schedules. You get up, eat and go to the lake when you want. Have a quiet time. Take a nap. Chat with a neighbor. Ride on a boat.
The area near our campground has a large grassy park, frequented by deer. The kids tend to roam around in a CV First pack! There are card games, Scrabble contests, and usually one large, wet, water-fight.
Be sure to have your kids bring their bikes!!
What’s This About Boats?
Many families in the church haul their ski boats to the lake and happily share the rides with others. This year, you’ll need to purchase ride tickets in order to help defray the rising gasoline costs for the boat owners. Tickets will be available for purchase at camp.
Most of the boats are fitted for skiing, wake boarding, or various forms of tubing. Just be careful…some of our drivers like to see how wet they can get you. Parents, bring life vests for your children, since the boats may not have every size.
What Do We Eat?
You bring your own food and eat as you desire. Some families arrange to share meals together. Regular runs to the local stores are made to replenish ice and other supplies. It’s a cooperative effort, BUT you’re responsible for your own meals.
Do We Have To Come For The Whole Time?
No. Come for as long or as short a time as you want. Some families come up for one day. Some arrive on Sunday and stay through the following weekend. It’s completely up to you, although the more you settle in, the more you can relax and get to know others from the church.
